half british is built on a simple idea: the things closest to your body every day deserve to be made well.

It started with socks — not because they're exciting, but because they're universal and almost universally underestimated. Everyone wears them. Most people never think twice about them. And that gap between what socks usually are and what they could be felt like a real opportunity.

Two worlds, one brand

The name reflects a genuine duality. Growing up in Peru, alpaca was part of everyday life — not as a luxury fibre marketed to foreigners, but as a practical, trusted material used by people who understood its properties. Moving to Britain brought a different education: the heritage of craft manufacturing, the tradition of making things properly, and the understated sensibility that runs through British design at its best.

half british is the intersection of those two things. Peruvian alpaca — one of the finest natural fibres in the world — knitted in British mills that have been doing this work for generations. The result is a sock that carries both of those origins in every pair.

Why alpaca, why now

Alpaca remains underrepresented in British fashion despite being, by most objective measures, a better fibre than the alternatives. It's warmer than merino at the same weight, softer than most wools, naturally hypoallergenic, and more durable than cotton. The case for it is straightforward — it just hasn't been made clearly enough.
